Hi everyone!
This post is for all of the moms out there who struggle to treat themselves to some well-deserved self-care without feeling guilty. As a new mom myself, I have found it especially hard to get a simple manicure or even go to the gym after work when I have been away from Diego all day. But after awhile, I realized everyone needs time to treat themselves, and if I am strategic about it, I can make it quick and guilt-free. Here is a list of some of my favorite mom hacks that have been such a game changer for me!
Quick Beauty Can Still Be GREAT Beauty
Facials
No matter how busy of a mom you are, you deserve to feel pampered and beautiful, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune or hours of your day.
So, let’s talk facials. Skin Laundry is one of my favorite skin clinics when it comes to a hassle-free facial. Their 15 minute Laser & Light Facial is not only quick, but evens out my skin tone, vaporizes any bacteria, and leaves me glowing. The best part about it is I can do it on my lunch break or while Diego and Dustin get ice cream and be back without having that noticeably red post-facial look. Your first visit is free, so now you have all the better reason to treat yourself! I go to the Skin Laundry at Scottsdale Quarter.
In case you can’t make time to go for a quick facial here are my favorite at home masks (I buy all my skincare at Citrine Natural Beauty Bar):
- The Problem solver from May Lindstrom, perfect for when you need a deep clean or some pimples to get rid off.
- Honey Blossom Resurfacing Mask from Tata Harper, this one it’s from when you are super tired and your skin looks just as tired as you are haha.
- Odacite Perfecting Masque, This one is a clean skin treatment, I wrote a whole post on this one. Click here to read.
Quick Makeup and Hair
My next hack is an app called ‘The Glam App.’ If you haven’t heard of it, then you are really in for a treat. It’s been described as the Uber for on-demand hair, nail, and makeup services. It was started by actress and fashion blogger Cara Santana and people everywhere have fallen in love.
Basically, you download the app on your phone and choose if you want a hair, nail, or makeup service. Each category has a list of styles and looks to choose from, and then you choose what level of stylist you’d like and the app sends a Glam App stylist to your door. Everything is done in the comfort of your home and takes under an hour. They are also offering all Call Me Lore readers 15% off with the code: GLAMPP15. So for the next date night that you want to feel pretty, you know what to do (haha).
Invest in the Right Tools
I have a true love for health and beauty products and cool technology gadgets, especially ones that can save me time! I recently tried the Dyson Hair Dryer (check out my full review in this blog post), and loved it! While this tool is on the pricier side, I think it’s worth it to treat yourself and invest in something that will make you feel good and save you time.
Make Eating Healthy & Staying Fit 10x Easier
Easy Healthy Meals
I’m constantly on the go and often exhausted at the end of the day, so staying fit is one of the hardest things for me to do. Luckily, I have searched for the simplest and quickest ways to keep myself healthy. Sometimes I just have 30 minutes to eat lunch at the office so I either eat a protein bar or order a salad from True Foods or Flower Child. There’s a local service called Eat by Stacey Weber that is really good for busy moms too! Her grab and go menu is amazing and has something for everyone. Mention my name or the blogpost at checkout to get $5 off your order and a free snack gift with purchase (hint: could be their delicious peanut butter power balls).
If you are stuck at work like me during lunch, you can order your food using Postmates or Uber Eats. I personally like that Postmates delivers from my two favorites mentioned above!
Quick and Effective Workouts
When it comes to working out, I really have a hard time getting myself to go to the gym. I need my workouts to be quick but still make me feel like I worked hard. A friend recently recommended Kayla Itsines’ workout circuits to me and after trying just one workout, I was hooked. Each workout is only 28 minutes long but by the end, I feel like I can barely walk. Her app ‘Sweat With Kayla’ is a $20/month subscription that gives you workouts you can do anywhere and anytime you have 30 free minutes.
The Peloton Bike has also been a lifesaver! I LOVE it so so so much–it’s the best way to get cardio in! I love that they have on-demand and live classes and you can choose the class length. So, even if I just have 20 free minutes in the morning I still get to have an amazing workout. For a full review on the Peloton Bike be sure to check out my previous blog post.
Make Wellness A Priority
Seeing a chiropractor regularly has been a HUGE help not only on any back or neck pain but I’ve also felt less stressed and rarely have headaches. I try to see the chiropractor once a month and I can usually squeeze in a 30 minute appointment at The Joint. Chiropractor’s are great for kids too so don’t be afraid to bring them along, Diego loves it! The Joint has locations everywhere, is easy to schedule, and offers $29 for a first visit.
Another wellness tip I have is the Soothe Massage app. This app lets you book you choice of massage type, length of time, and specific masseuse experience for an on-demand in home massage. For me, anything that I can do in the comfort of my home not only saves me time, but makes me feel so much more comfortable. Dustin and Diego can spend an hour at the park and by the time they get back I’ve had my mom time to destress and treat my body.
